The hardest part would be making the alteration

This is definitely needed by them, and it should not be hard. In FA, you'd approach a participant, and similar to what happens when you attempt to sign a player but just have two-ways left, a message could develop that says,"You can't sign this player because you do not have sufficient cap space. You're able to acquire him in a sign-and-trade thing." Okay clicks and the contract that you want to offer is offered by you.

If the player takes, which means getting less cash so 2K needs to make adjustments for how players take contracts beyond just money, the display looks exactly the same as it does now where it says"accepted" and you can correct that not to sign himbut instead it would say"approved - sign-and-trade." Once you hit next, NBA 2K21 requires you to the transaction display and a message appears that states"in order to finish this sign-and-trade, you must complete the trade" or something along those lines.

Then you need to put in TPEs or wages to make the transaction function, which would stay the same as it's now. The important part here is that the team would need to be set to take, so the transaction logic would be out the window. So if you are bringing in a man who's earning $20m, you can send out five trash players along with another round pick and the opposing team will probably accept it.

The hardest part would be making the alteration where sign-and-trades hard cap the receiving team. The easiest route is to dismiss this, which NBA 2K21 already does. Another route, which frankly should not be hard but I may be naive, is to then trigger the hard cap at the luxury line, or luxury apron but I don't think 2K has got the apron in NBA 2K21. If NBA 2K21 does hard cap you, a message ought to be appear that says"as a consequence of this sign-and-trade, you're now hard capped in the luxury tax. You have to remove $XM in contract to get under the tax amount."
